River Country Like any large city, there is always street people and out of that there is a big population of young adults between 14 and 20, the reasons vary but none the less they tend to congregate and live in groups like River Country. I found River Country after getting into a fight with my parents when I came out to them, as soon as I said I was gay, my dad said, not in my house you aren’t. The next few weeks the pressure built, my mom said basically the same thing and told me to change my tune or my dad would send me out the door. I started stockpiling things at a friend’s house in the corner of his parent’s garage, clothes, food and anything I could sell, I had just turned 17 the month before and was planning my departure out into the world, like it or not. My parents were never very loving, I can’t remember being kissed by either of them, I am an only child and without siblings it was more of an existence than a happy family.
